Sustainability is always in style at Saint Cloud Boutique.

Cecilia Marquez, Partner and Creative Director of Saint Cloud, talks about thoughtfully made goods and doing good.

In 2013, a haven for eco-conscious, adventurous embracers of change and culture was born. Curious customers wander into Saint Cloud to peruse its ever-changing inventory of home goods and lifestyle accessories from around the world. “We know almost every person who makes our products,” cofounder Cecilia Marquez explains. “We have a very personal connection with everything that comes through these doors, and we’re excited to share that with people.” From clothes, to cosmetics, to designer notebooks and beyond, every product Saint Cloud sells has a unique story to tell, and sustainability plays a leading role in all of them.

Cecilia Marquez, Partner and Creative Director of Saint CloudSaint Cloud only sells products from manufacturers and distributors that actively support green and philanthropic causes. They ship their products in reused boxes, and personally deliver items in a 5-mile radius to save on waste and cost.

“When [we] started Saint Cloud, sustainability was one of the most important factors,” Cecilia recalls. “We were able to incorporate [it] from day one.” In the beginning, the Saint Cloud store consisted of a dirt floor and no walls, which gave Cecilia the unique advantage of building sustainability into every aspect of her business. The walls that now exist are made of recycled wood and covered in organic paint, the dirt floor was replaced with eco-friendly, unfinished cement, and the windows are highly tinted to lower energy use.

“We were able to incorporate sustainability from day one.”

Saint Cloud does all of its business in the cloud and touts a completely paperless retail experience. Considering 45% of the paper printed in offices worldwide ends up in the trash every day, going 100% paperless is no small feat.*

Cecilia relies on Waste Management to simplify her boutique’s operations by sorting their recyclables and picking up their waste on time, every time — in fact, they haven’t missed a single pickup since Saint Cloud’s inception. She also appreciates the added convenience of their on-premises Waste Management recycling center.

“We’ve been very happy with Waste Management,” Cecilia affirms. “They make our lives easier.”
